The evaluation criteria of the coating adhesion test:

Evaluation according to scale below:

Description Performance Class(ASTM) Class(ISO)
The edges of the cuts are completely smooth; none of the squares of the lattice is detached 5B 0
Detachment of small flakes of the coating at the intersections of cuts. A cross-cut area not significantly greater than 5% is affected 4B 1
The coating has flaked along the edges and/or at the intersections of the cuts. A cut area significantly greater than 5%, but not significantly greater than 15% is  affected 3B 2
The coating has flaked along the edges of the cuts partly or wholly in large ribbons, and or it has flaked partly or wholly on different parts of the squares. A cross cut area significant greater than 35% is affected 2B 3
The coating has flaked along the edges of the cuts in large ribbons and/or same square have detached parity or wholly. A cross-cut area significantly greater than 35%, but not significantly greater than 60%  is affected   1B 4
Any degree of flaking that cannot even be classified   0B 5

Slip and Friction Tester

The Slip and Friction Tester is designed to measure the sliding resistance of sheet like materials including plastic film, packaging film laminates, paper, paperboard and coated surfaces.

For over 30 years, Testing Machines, Inc. has had a history of producing reliable, accurate and robust testing instruments for measuring coefficient of friction. The model 32-07 is our latest design offering advanced features for measuring and automatically calculating static and kinetic coefficient of friction.

Slip and friction testing aids in the evaluation of chemicals and additives used to create or minimize the degree of friction between two contacting test specimens.

Krebs Viscometer

  • Range: 54-140 KU (75-1000 g.)
  • Sturdy mechanical assembly & easy maintenance
  • Easy to read speed indication
  • Good value for money
  • Standard package: Viscometer, paddle rotor,
  • 1 pint (500 ml) / Ø85 mm can,
  • Set of 7 weights (2 x 5g, 1 x 10g, 1 x 25g, 1 x 50g, 2 x 100g,
  • 1 x 200g, 1 x 500g), AC/DC 12V adapter (for digital version)

This traditional KREBS viscometry instrument uses a rotating paddle driven by falling weights to determine the paint viscosity. The viscosity value in Krebs units can be easily converted using the table supplied or by calculation by formula from the resultant value of total weight required to reach 200 rpm.

The robust and simple construction of this viscometer allows it to be used in various environments.
2 versions available: with tachometer or with stroboscope.

Digital Rotothinner™

  • Quick release chuck for rapid rotor change and cleaning
  • Multipoint calibration
  • Remote calibration key for extra security
  • Storage facility and RS232 output for printer

The Rotothinner instrument uses a disc or ball shaped rotor to determine the viscosity of the sample under test. The results are displayed on the LCD screen in POISE units.

Rotothinners allow the operator to continuously monitor the samples viscosity whilst a solvent or thinner is added. This allows quick correction factors for use in the production batch when carried out quantitatively.

The viscosity is measured using a high quality microprocessor controlled DC motor. The robust construction of the Rotothinners means that they are suitable for use as both production and laboratory instruments. Supplied with a 250ml sample tin.
